A reminder of third opportunity to apply for funding from the Cheetham Community First programme will run from the 10th February 2014, with all applications to be received by 12pm (midday) on 28th February 2014.

Next Bidding Round – November 2013

Following the success of the Cheetham Communities First programme in 2011-13, we are due to have our first bidding round for 2013-14 in November.  Details will be finalised soon and a call for applications will be made over the next 2-3 weeks.

The panel will meet in November to make a decision on all the applications.

Who has been successful so far?

So far £29,000 has been allocated to voluntary and community sector groups through the Community First funding programme to support a variety of programmes.  Projects supported include:

  • Abraham Moss Warriors – supporting Cheetham volunteers to take FA coaching qualifications in order to train local u16 residents
  • Cheetham Heritage Festival – supporting the annual multi faith event taking place this September across various Cheetham venues
  • Cheetham Hill Advice Centre – training for their volunteers so they can support even more Cheetham residents with advice on a variety of topics.
  • Cheetham Al-Hilal Community project – summer camp for 100 Cheetham young people to deliver study booster sessions alongside sports and activities.
  • On top of the world – music making workshops for 11-19 year olds in Cheetham, involving recording and performing.

Applications for Communities First Funding in Cheetham are decided upon by a community panel made up of local organisations and residents.  In Cheetham this is led by panel partner ‘First Asian Support Trust’ and also has representives from a local business, faith organisations, resident group, elected members and the local regeneration team.
